The Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 gives qualifying persons the right to request access to certain records held by private bodies where the information is required for the exercise or protection of rights.
Requests for access to Yakar records must be clear, specific, and include enough detail for Yakar to identify the requested record and assess the request lawfully.
2. POPIA Notice
The Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 regulates how personal information is collected, used, stored, shared, and protected. Yakar processes personal information for legitimate business purposes connected to enquiries, quotations, customer records, service delivery, supplier engagement, compliance, and administration.
3. Categories of Personal Information
Yakar may process contact details, company details, quotation requirements, delivery information, communication history, account records, and documents required for compliance or operational planning.
4. Purpose of Processing
Information may be processed to respond to enquiries, prepare quotations, manage customer relationships, coordinate fuel supply or plant hire services, maintain audit records, comply with laws, and protect Yakar's rights and operations.
5. Information Officer Contact
PAIA and POPIA requests can be sent to admin@yakar.co.za. Yakar may request proof of identity, authority, or additional information before processing a request.
6. Response Times and Grounds for Refusal
Requests will be assessed in line with applicable law. Access may be refused where a record is confidential, legally privileged, commercially sensitive, relates to another person, or where refusal is permitted or required by law.
7. Updates
This notice may be updated as Yakar's services, systems, legal obligations, or operational processes change.
